Principal Designer, Sara Cukerbaum, received her B.A. from New York University before returning to study interior design at The Harrington Institute of Design in Chicago. After graduating, Sara worked as a designer at firms in Chicago, New York, and Dallas, where she worked on a variety of published projects. Sara then launched SLIC Design in 2012.
Recently, the firm has completed a number of exciting projects in the Austin area, including a custom condo at the Seaholm, a restaurant remodel on Congress & a new restaurant on E. Cesar Chavez.
In addition to her professional experience, Sara has had the good fortune to travel all over the world. This exposure shaped her aesthetic and refined her understanding of the different ways in which people live. Sara’s aesthetic is based on a real appreciation for the way a person’s environment can shape their lifestyle. It is that appreciation that makes the client the center of their own design.
The company’s aesthetic emphasizes a natural take on modernity, bringing together the best vendors from around the country, offering trend setting items to Austin. Innovation, originality and function are the driving forces behind SLIC Design.
Jackie Nelson has been a Junior Designer with SLIC Interiors since 2016. She graduated in 2012 with a degree in Marketing from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Following graduation, Jackie moved to Austin where she started a career in fashion at Stitch Fix. This experience cultivated a deep appreciation of materials and textures, while also developing her skills in client relations and project management. In Jackie's free time, she enjoys repurposing antiques & building furniture. Jackie is an essential part of the SLIC Design team.
Britney Joslin has been a Design Assistant with SLIC Design since 2017. She graduated in 2010 with a degree in Art History from Texas State University. After living in Austin for a year or so, Britney relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where she finessed her experience with aesthetics and guest relations through her role as General Manager of Drybar Buckhead. She moved back to Austin in the fall of 2017 to be closer to family and seeking a career move back to the arts and creative design. In her free time, Britney is an avid long distance runner and committed yoga enthusiast.
Heather joined SLIC Design in January of 2019 as a Senior Designer. After earning her Masters of Art in Interior Architecture from New England School of Art & Design in Boston, MA in 2013, she worked for a high-end residential designer before deciding that five Boston winters were way too many for a native Austinite. After moving back home in 2015 she worked for a local interior design firm on both commercial and residential projects. She then took a hiatus from design, stepping into a role as a trade rep for a local furniture and interiors showroom. Ultimately, she missed the hands-on work and creative process that comes with being a designer, and we’re glad to have her on our team. In her free time, Heather loves to paint and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible.
