Sara Cukerbaum - Interior Designer Austin
Name *

Principal Designer, Sara Cukerbaum, received her B.A. from New York University before returning to study interior design at The Harrington Institute of Design in Chicago. After graduating, Sara worked as a designer at firms in Chicago, New York, and Dallas, where she worked on a variety of published projects.  Sara then launched SLIC Design in 2012.

Recently, the firm has completed a number of exciting projects in the Austin area, including a custom condo at the Seaholm, a restaurant remodel on Congress & a new restaurant on E. Cesar Chavez.

In addition to her professional experience, Sara has had the good fortune to travel all over the world.  This exposure shaped her aesthetic and refined her understanding of the different ways in which people live.  Sara’s aesthetic is based on a real appreciation for the way a person’s environment can shape their lifestyle.  It is that appreciation that makes the client the center of their own design.

The company’s aesthetic emphasizes a natural take on modernity, bringing together the best vendors from around the country, offering trend setting items to Austin.  Innovation, originality and function are the driving forces behind SLIC Design.

Heather Herndon

Heather joined SLIC Design in January of 2019 as a Senior Designer. After earning her Masters of Art in Interior Architecture from New England School of Art & Design in Boston, MA in 2013, she worked for a high-end residential designer before deciding that five Boston winters were way too many for a native Austinite. After moving back home in 2015 she worked for a local interior design firm on both commercial and residential projects. She then took a hiatus from design, stepping into a role as a trade rep for a local furniture and interiors showroom. Ultimately, she missed the hands-on work and creative process that comes with being a designer, and we’re glad to have her on our team. In her free time, Heather loves to paint and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible.

Sara at Slic Design helped us transform our home from an 80’s outdated, last-generation house into the modern, stylish home it is now. She was a pleasure to work with and very professional. After our first meeting, she came to us with a plan and a time frame. Throughout the process she always listened and valued our input. We could not be more proud of the results and our decision to work with Sara! We are completely satisfied with Slic Interiors and are customers for life.

I first met Sara while taking her interior design class at The University of Texas and clicked with her immediately. I asked her to help me with design selections for a home we were in the process of building in Bee Cave and she had amazing suggestions right from the start. Sarah definitely made the most of our budget and accompanied me to several vendor meetings to make lighting selections, tile, flooring, etc. I’m so happy with the outcome and it was very reassuring to have Sara by my side to confirm I was making good decisions. Since the house was completed, I’ve used Sara’s services for custom drapery and several furniture pieces. I would highly recommend her!
